Just a gentle reminder that your child’s remaining participation fees are due by February 1. Total fees were $200, so after the deposit. Most cast members owe $150 (unless they paid more up front).

Family discount. $50 off second child in same household. $100 off for 3rd, 4th, etc.

Checks can be made out to martin musicals and put in the Martin musicals mailbox outside of Mrs. Baker’s classroom. Please put your child’s name on the memo line of the check.

An additional $50 will be added to your child’s fees if the dues are not paid by February 1st. Please don’t make us track you all down.

If you need financial assistance or accommodations, please don’t hesitate to contact me. We want every child to be able to participate.

Thanks again for your continued support!!!!!

CALLING ALL ALUMNI!

We will be having a meeting for any alumni who wish to help with Wizard of Oz at Mary Martin on Thursday, January 25th @ 5:00pm. Click here to go to our forms page to fill out the application and bring it to the meeting. Please note that it needs to be signed by a parent prior to the meeting. If parents would like to attend the meeting that would be great so  you can see what opportunities and expectations your student will have.

Martin Musical Parent Volunteers

If you plan to volunteer with Martin Musicals this year in any capacity please fill out the attached Volunteer Policy form. I received several at the parent meeting but many parents have not turned it in yet. You can email me the completed form tamr@nsbcweatherford.com or turn it into the Martin Musicals mailbox.

Also, all volunteers must have cleared a background check on file with district prior to helping with children in any way. This form is also attached but must be turned in to the school office or taken directly to the district services building to be completed. If you have turned in a background check from at any WISD school for any other volunteer capacity it will count for MM.

Thank you! Click the title of this post to access form

So excited to begin rehearsals!!! A few notes about procedure for our newbies...

Schedules:
Please visit with your child about their rehearsal schedule before you drop them off at school. Anyone who has popped into the office during the school day knows it's very busy with regular school business so we ask that parents don't call the office to ask if their child has rehearsal that day. Schedules will always be posted on facebook for you to reference. I recommend checking with a friend who has a child in the same songs and scene as your child if you are unsure about rehearsal schedules. Students who are scheduled to rehearse will come straight to the music room after school.

6th graders:
Please make every effort to get there as quickly as possible after school.

Attendance:
Anyone who has seen our productions knows it's a higher level than you would expect from elementary aged kids. Attendance at rehearsal is so important. Please make every effort to make sure your child attends their rehearsal. If you know ahead of time about a conflict, please let us know so I can plan. If your child is sick and doesn't attend school that day, please let me know so I am not looking for them. Gracie G., our junior stage manager will be taking attendance daily and making calls to parents of missing cast members to make sure we don't have kids falling through the cracks.

What to Wear:
For choreography rehearsals, clothes they can move in (often their school clothes work fine) and if they already have jazz shoes, wear them. Please make sure their names are on their shoes and then they can bring them and change after school. No sandals, clogs or boots in choreography rehearsals.

Snack:
Students may bring a healthy snack and a water. If you send them with sugary snacks and drinks, I will send them home with a free kitten :)

Behavior Expectations:
I have very high expectations when it comes to behavior. It is a privilege to be a part of this group and I want to teach the cast to be respectful of all the adults volunteering their time as well as other cast members. I usually handle behaviors on my own but if the situation is not resolved I will call the parents and ask the student be picked up. Our cast members are usually highly motivated to give their best and they become great leaders in our school!

Pick Up:
Please make arrangements for your child to be picked up at the end of our rehearsal time in the hallway outside the music room. I try really hard to be respectful of your time and end when our time is up. Sometimes we are finishing a son or scene and it runs over but it is usually pretty close. I do have a list of phone numbers but I ask that all cast members know their parent's number so we can reach you quickly after rehearsal if someone doesn't get picked up.

Thanks so much! It's going to be a GREAT show!!!!!!!

Students who are in Little Mermaid at WHS -

I just found out y'all have rehearsal at 4:30pm on Friday. Don't worry about coming to the read through. I don't want to cause someone to miss Mermaid rehearsal because that show is right around the corner. If they want to come to the first part and leave early, that's fine too. Can't wait to see our Martin Musicals kids in Mermaid!

Don't forget about the One and Only Parent Meeting, Monday Oct 16th at 6:30 in the MME cafeteria!

You will receive important information about rehearsals, costumes, fundraising opportunities and volunteer policy changes as well as hear about some exciting "first time ever" news for the show and get the chance to win a family 4 pack of tickets to Splash Kingdom!  We know it is a busy night but please plan to have a representative there for your cast member.

This meeting is for parents of ALL Company and Lead Roles. A Chorus Camp parent meeting will be on Chorus Camp day in April.

WEEK OF SHOW CLARIFICATIONS

Kids need their base costume (see Michelle Hughes-Hayes for questions) each day this week as they will be trying costumes at various times

-kids need basic stage makeup (see Rochelle Perkins Strittmatter for questions) as many days as they want but for sure for Thursday's dress rehearsal, Friday morning and of course for both shows

-if you are worried about how to get your child to WHS with all necessary things by 4:00, please just do your best. Main characters with more involved costumes and makeup (you know who you are) need to be there by 4:00.

All other cast members have a little flexibility. Just please remember that all kids need to have time to eat dinner once they get to WHS and be ready with base costume (and makeup at the end of the week) by 4:30. We want to begin as early as possible so we can release as early as possible!

-reminder-chorus camp does not go on the field trip on Friday

Reminder!!!

Just a reminder about the importance of attendance at rehearsals this week. I know your kids know their parts, but all the adults, prop masters, hair and makeup people, costume people, lighting and sound technicians only have these few days to practice making your kids look and sound awesome. If they skip practice for other things his week, we can't do our jobs in making them look good. Please help us do our jobs by making sure your kids are present this week at all their called rehearsal times. Thank you!

Characters w/ 4 pm Hair & Makeup

The following characters will be needed in the dressing room for hair and makeup starting at 4pm:  Maurice, Beast, Gaston, Lefou, Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, Babette, Madame, Chip, Silly Girls, Enchantress, Monsier D'Arque, Rose, Aristocratic Lady, Sausage Curl Girl and Milkmaid.

We will be staggering their times so they won't all be in there at the same time. We will call them as we need them and are ready for them. They will need to wait with the rest of the cast until they are called. Please have them there by 4pm so they will have time to eat.

All of these characters need time to practice with their costumes which includes hair and makeup. We won't be able to get everyone completely done every night but we will do little pieces here and there as the week goes along.

Note to Silly Girls, please have your hair already curled on show nights so we can have a head start on you guys. If you want to practice the curls throughout the week please do so!! The big curly hair is part of your costume!

It's gonna be a fun week and weekend!!

Don't hesitate to ask me any questions!

Notes for Parents for Show Week (4/24-4/29)

The last week of rehearsals is a VERY busy week with lots going on!  Please keep these things in mind as you prepare for the final stretch:

• Watch Facebook OFTEN and make sure you have joined our Remind group.

o This is where we will post last minute reminders, notices if groups get to leave early, notices of when rehearsal is over, etc.

• All rehearsals the final week are at the Durant Auditorium at Weatherford High School

• Drop off/Pick up

o You are responsible for getting your child to the high school each day (carpool if needed!)

o You must check in your child each day at 4:00 at the high school outside the band hall/choir room.  Enter in the outside door to the left of the main High School entrance.  It will have a sign outside that says “Musicals Enter Here”.

o You must check out your child each evening from the choir room only after they have been cleared by costumes

• ***Dinner time is new this year***

o Call time is 4:00 and we will feed kids at 4:00 when they arrive at the Durant.  This will allow everyone to eat before costumes and mics.  If your child will need a snack for later please make sure they bring it labeled with their name, does not contain sugary or messy foods, and water only.

• All kids need to wear their costume base each day to rehearsal.  This was addressed on Facebook so please refer back to Michelle Hayes’ previous posts about what your child needs.

o Please also make sure they come each day with basic stage makeup on.

o Please make sure your child does not wear their dance shoes outside.  They need to wear something else to the Durant and change there.

o Please have your child bring a bag (LABELED WITH THEIR NAME) each day to put their regular clothes in while they are in costume.

o Again, please understand that (especially on show nights) it may take several minutes before your child can be checked out.  We must make sure every part of every costume is accounted for especially since so many of our costumes are rented this year.

• Tickets will be for sale each day at the high school at drop off and pick up.  Each cast member (not chorus camp) will receive 2 tickets as part of their musical fee.  Additional tickets are $5 each.  Cash or check. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door for $5.

• Please send your child with a quiet activity each afternoon.  NO ELECTRONICS PLEASE. They will spend a large portion of each afternoon/evening waiting in the choir room so they need to bring something to pass the time.

• Above all please be flexible!  We will not know until we begin rehearsing at the Durant how each scene will go.  Some scenes may take more or less time than others but please trust that we want to do what it takes to make this the best show ever!

THANK YOU FOR LETTING YOUR CHILD BE PART OF #BEASTMODE!

Parent Volunteers

If you are going to be volunteering next week directly with the kids (hair, makeup, costumes, chorus camp helper, basically anything other than concessions) we will need an updated background check for you. I am working on getting a list of those of you who have already done one for the school earlier this year. If you haven't or aren't sure click here for the form for you to sign in order to do the background check. I will also have some copies at rehearsals today and tomorrow. Thank you for helping us out with this!

Parents of Chorus Camp!

These instructions are for both shows! If you have a girl please have her hair in a bun if it's long enough, and if it's too short you can either pull it up in the front or pull up one side with a barrette. Feel free to curl the hair if you'd like. If you have a boy, please have their hair fixed neatly, and if it's long enough please have it combed with a part. Thank you so much parents!!!

Costume Announcement

If your child in the song Gaston and is a wolf(Chase Loftin, Aubrey Landers, JJ Strittmatter, Anthony Smith, & Brooklyn Boyd):
Their base layer that they need to wear to the high school is a pair solid gray of jogger style pants.  The shirt type doesn't matter because we will get that from the costume shop.
They may also want a pair of athletic shorts for back stage, color & type doesn't matter because they won't be seen.  I may have told them differently this weekend but I just realized this will be best.

For anyone else, if I haven't gotten with you about your base later yet, I will shortly. Thank you all so much!

Band students & Sandy Lake

I know Sandy Lake competition is the day of our dress rehearsal. I highly recommend having a parent or guardian checking these kids out early to get them to dress rehearsal in a timely manner. I think there is still plenty of time for them to perform with the band and hang out at the amusement park for a while. They just need to leave a bit early to make it back in time for dress rehearsal. Thank you so much!

HEADSHOTS - April 8th!

HEAD SHOTS! Saturday, April 8. Adeana Patterson will be at Martin from 10:00-4:00 to do head shots. EVERY cast member needs a head shot. Please have them wear show shirts and NO bows. It they are helping you paint or work for parent work day, they will need a change of clothes for that. We are so thankful for Adeana, so please be respectful of her time and make sure your child comes during this 6 hour time frame. Thank you!
