Jitterbug Costume Base

I just want to make sure that all of the jitterbug trees know their base for this scene, since it plays a big part in the costume.  Girls are being provided leotards but you need to bring black bootcut yoga pants(not leggings).  Boys need a fitted long sleeved black T-shirt.  I have the pants for you.  Jitterbugs tree parents please comment on this post so I know that you have seen this.

Costumes: I have a couple of costume notes here.  So read this entire post please.

1. Chorus Camp, if I missed checking your costume base today you can just send me a picture on messenger of your kids in their base, or just the base you have and kids name, and I will check them off my list.  

 

2.  I spoke to a couple of mom’s on the first workday, who said their girls would bring their own black leotards.  I can’t remember who all told me this.  Would you remind me in the comments if this was you.

 

3.  A big thank you to the amazing parents who helped me out on costume today for work day!!! 

Week of April 16-20 (whew)

Monday - full show till 8:00 with costume change helpers and set movers. 
Tuesday - full show till 8:00 same as Monday
Wednesday - alumni set movers meeting and quick run trough scene changes 4:30-6:00
Thursday - full show till 8:00 like the rest of the week with alumni set movers
Friday - load in/flying machine company here - EEK! Rehearsal with flying people Friday night at Durant!!!!! 

Saturday April 21 - tech day at Durant! 9-5 Wahoo! Full day to run tech with mics, lights, flying machine, set pieces, fog machine, projections, everything! Also another great parent work day situation as long as it doesn’t interfere with what’s going on on stage.

Week of show: details coming on times, procedures, etc

Monday - full run through with no chorus camp

Tuesday - full run through with chorus camp

Wednesday - as needed 

Thursday - full dress rehearsal 

Friday - field trip during the day to Durant for final rehearsal before opening!

Friday night - opening night!!! 

Saturday - closing night and strike stage 😢

Sunday - start dreaming about next year...

Schedule for today: Saturday, April 14:

* Head shots are 11-1 for anyone who hasn’t had theirs done yet. Last chance!

*Rehearsal - Munchkinland Sequence 1 and 2 and “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” WITH CHORUS CAMP from 10:00-11:00. 

11:00-11:30 FULL CAST with chorus camp to work on curtain call dance and bows!!! 

*11:00 parent meeting for all with info present d on security, field trip on April 27, costume basics, meals provided in the coming weeks, hair and makeup, and FIRST LOOK AT ONLINE TICKET SALES - WOOHOO!!!

FIELD TRIP UPDATE FOR 6TH GRADERS

All 6th graders will need to be dropped off AT MARTIN in the music room on the morning of the 27th. We will take attendance and a count will be sent to Tison so they are counted present. They will ride the bus with us to WHS. If a parent doesn't pick them up from the park where we will have lunch (location TBA) they will return TO MARTIN where they can be picked up at the end of the school day.

Nurses

For the ones that have volunteered to help me the week of the show. Please comment on here the day and time you volunteered and let me know if you’ve already had a background check done. Since you interact with the children you have to have one of those done as soon as possible so I need to make sure you get that form and get it back to us. Thank you for your help. Nurses rock!

Show security volunteers

Good morning parents!

I have three volunteers for Friday in the balcony for security people. You’re only role is to make sure that nobody sitting in the front area or running around in that middle walk breezeway area. 

I need one more for Friday night and I need two more for Saturday night in the balcony.

The people on the balcony are going to be needed the duration of the show.  The perks of the balcony you get to watch your kiddo and volunteer at the same time.

I still need one more intermission concession person Friday and I need 2 people intermission concession people Saturday.

FIELD TRIP

On Friday, April 27, the cast (not Chorus Camp) will take a field trip to the Durant Auditorium at Weatherford High School to rehearse. We will leave Martin around 8:15 and return around 2:00. We will have lunch at a park after the rehearsal where you can pick up your child if you choose.


I WILL HAVE PERMISSION FORMS THIS SATURDAY THAT MUST BE SIGNED AND RETURNED BY SATURDAY, APRIL 21 IN ORDER FOR YOUR CHILD TO GO.  


6th graders are included - stay tuned for details on their transportation


**New this year, included is a form that you must fill out if you want to pick up your child at the park instead of them riding the bus back to Martin.

PARENT MEETING SATURDAY 11:00

This short meeting is optional but HIGHLY RECOMMENDED especially for first timers to Martin Musicals.  This is for cast parents as well as Chorus Camp parents.  


We will go over exactly what to expect over the next two weeks, especially show week.  Michelle Hughes Hayes and Rochelle Perkins Strittmatter will also be on hand to answer questions about costumes and makeup.

💗MOTHERS💓

I am looking for men who can volunteer Friday or Saturday night of the show to help with security in the balcony. I need 4 men each night. (this job is making sure nobody is sitting in the front area of the balcony). I also need a couple of men downstairs near the concessions that is  just standing and walking around till the show starts and during intermission. Please comment here if you know of anyone that would be interested in doing this. Thank you.

Chorus camp - this is a bonus run through for those who can make it and would like an extra practice with the other Munchkins. We’d love to see you there!
