Alumni and Parents of Brand New Alumni:

First time alumni, if you did not go to the first meeting you and your adult representative must be present to be apart of the show this year.  The brief meeting is at 1:00.  Thank you and see you tomorrow.

For all returning alumni and rookies your application fee of $10.00 is due March 24.  Returning alumni you do not have to stay for the meeting but please drop your application and $10.00 fee off so I can place you for Wizard of Oz.

Background Check

Just a reminder that anyone who wishes to help in any capacity with kids in the musical MUST HAVE A COMPLETED BACKGROUND CHECK ON FILE PRIOR TO SHOW WEEK as well as our signed Volunteer Policy form.

If you are even thinking about volunteering please come check with me when you bring your child Saturday.  I have a list of everyone who has been approved.  I will have a few forms if you need to fill one out or you can print them from here.  It takes the district a few days or even a couple of weeks to run the checks so now is the time to turn them in!  If you have done one for any school function in the district it will count.

Click this post title for the forms.

CHORUS CAMP UPDATE

CHORUS CAMP DAY IS THIS SATURDAY THE 24TH!

Here's what you need to know:

- Chorus Camp is from 10:00-noon.

- Parents don't forget your meeting at 10:00.  At least one parent of each Chorus Camper needs to attend.  The meeting shouldn't last more than 30 minutes.  You can then leave and come back at noon to get your kid(s).

- I will feed the kids a snack while they are here.

- They will receive their musical shirt Saturday and will have headshots taken while they are here.

See you Saturday!

Saturday, April 21 REQUIRED Rehearsal

We are so excited to have this rehearsal time in the Durant!! This will be our tech day to work, get mics passed out, get sound eq, lighting, set moving, flying company, etc. VERY IMPORTANT!!!

* First run through 9:00-12:00

*Second run through (with flying company)1:00-5:00

This is our first full run through in the Durant - so exciting and so important!!! I know everyone is busy and we all have this and that going on - please set aside this time to be at the Durant so we can respect each other’s time. We have countless volunteers who are committing their time to helping your kids have the best experience possible as well as money invested in tech help, so it is very important to be present for this Saturday rehearsal.

Headshots
Our photographer, Adeana, will be at the school on Saturday from 10:00-12:00 taking headshots. You MUST have your child at the school during this time to have their headshot displayed at the performances. Our photographer essentially works pro bono and has that time to give us. Many of you will have to bring your child to the school twice. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Notes for Saturday
I know children are playing sports, dance, piano, etc...
PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO HAVE YOUR CHILD TO THE SCHOOL AT THEIR DESIGNATED TIME/SCENE. Obviously, if your child cannot make their time, I will have to reblock them.

This is a parent work day as well. There are a million things that need to be painted, assembled and constructed. If you can help, we can use you! Please, no small children. We cannot have any children running around the school unsupervised at all.

There will be no food at the school either. Please make sure your child has eaten. Water bottles are welcomed.

Thank you all for your help and participation. It is going to be a wonderful show! #followtheyellowbrickroad

COSTUMES - Monday Emergency Measure Day

This Monday, 3/19 is last call for ALL measurements. I have to have all measurements on Monday. If your child did not get measured Thursday, 3/15, I need their measurements Monday. I will be measuring 4 - 5:30 pm.

IMPORTANT: If your child is not in scenes 1 - 4 and called for rehearsal on Monday, they must be accompanied by an adult.

I will have help with the measurements and we will get them measured and release them to you as soon as possible. If you cannot have your child at the school accompanied by an adult on Monday, you can print off the forms and measure them yourself or have someone you know familiar with clothing measuring do it for you. Please read the instructions carefully, they are very particular. Please make sure you print the correct gender form (Not the gender of the role, the gender of the actor). Please use the Harris Costumes Form. They can be turned in either to me in the computer lab or in the Martin Musicals box at school on Monday morning. Thank you so much parents for helping us out with this!

Scripts

All students should be off book after Spring Break. I will spend this week making sure some of the kiddos who don't have scripts get their pages copied so they can study those lines. Thye should bring their scripts to rehearsal for studying and taking notes during down times but no scripts in hands while acting after Spring Break. We will have Gracie G there to cue and dropped lines and making notes of where the dripped lines are so you can study. Thank you!

Rehearsal Notes - Please Read!

ALL CHARACTERS: PLEASE START COMING TO REHEARSALS IN YOUR CHARACTER SHOES/JAZZ SHOES/TAP SHOES ASAP!

Leader of Winkies - Please be prepared to do lead step routine this week during rehearsal. Click here for the Practice Video

Ozians and Emerald City Chorus - You should come any time either of those groups is called. We put them together into a larger group rather than two smaller groups.

Aunt Em - Please come with a bun and if you have round the house any clunky heel you could use just for rehearsal and an apron until we get your real costume in, that would be great. Don't buy anything special, we should have your real stuff soon.

Glinda -  Please bring tiara and practice scepter from now on and come in character shoes.

Wicked Witch - Please begin coming to rehearsal with some kind of green makeup and a rehearsal cape and character boots. Please bring rehearsal broom.

Dorothy -  Can you please start coming to rehearsals with hair braided in two loose braids, character shoes, and lip gloss. We need to add fake lashes at some point when it's feasible so you can practice in them. Rochelle said she can apply them for you. We may have loaner character shoes you can use for rehearsal. Also, please get some very thin white ankle socks (kind of like dress socks) to be worn under character shoes and taps for rehearsals.

PLEASE keep your kids home if they are sick

We will catch them up - I don't want anyone to feel pressure to attend rehearsals while they are sick!

We are making some changes to this week's schedule to make the best use of everyone's time. (A lot of kiddos are sick so we are working around missing folks).

Tues, Feb 6th until 5 pm - Dorothy, Tin Man, Lion, Scarecrow, Wizard

Wed, Feb 7th until 5 pm - Ozians, Emerald City Chorus

Thu, Feb 8th until 4:30 pm - Winkies

Fri, Feb 9th until 5 pm - Ozians, Emerald City Chorus

Thank you for being flexible!
