REHEARSAL NOTES

The time has come when each rehearsal includes almost the entire cast!  This means that each day there are over 100 kids waiting for their time on stage!

Beginning tomorrow, the kids will be waiting in the music room for their time to go on stage.  The routines and policies we begin tomorrow will be very similar to how it will be at the high school during the week of the show.  We wanted you to be aware of their expectations from now on.  With this many kids waiting together it is important that everyone understand our expectations.

*Kids will be waiting for long periods of time so they need to bring a calm activity to pass the time (card games, coloring, books to read, etc)

*We will allow electronics UNLESS it becomes an issue (viewing inappropriate things, not paying attention to their call to go on stage, etc) ****once we get to the high school, electronics will not be allowed in the cast waiting room

*We will have someone to call each group when it is their time to go on stage

*They may bring a water bottle labeled with their name.

*They will be asked to go to the bathroom before rehearsal begins and then wait until the end or until a break.

*Limiting bathroom and drink breaks will ensure that kids are in the music room when their scene is called and they don't miss their time on stage.

*When practices end at 6:30 (like this Friday) the cast will be provided a snack.  When practices end at 8:00 (as well as the entire show week) they will be provided dinner.

*Unless absolutely necessary all cast members need to stay for the entire rehearsal.  When even one person is missing it changes how the scene is run.

Thank you for being supportive of our policies and rules! We want to make sure this experience is positive for the entire cast!

Costumes

I am attaching a copy of the cast list that includes each students costume base and shoe requirements for the show.  Please use this document as a reference for your shoe and costume base questions.  Your child should already have their shoes.  If they don't please get them ASAP.  I do have a few new pairs of shoes left if you want to see if I have their size.  Chorus Camp info. is not on this document.  You can find chorus camp information on the link to our website.  Once again parents thank you for your help.  I will have lots of costume volunteer opportunities coming up.  Keep an eye on this page if you would like to help.

CHORUS CAMP PARENTS

Thank you for coming today!  What a great meeting!  Mrs. Baker will be posting the dance video soon for you to help your munchkin practice.

Please save the date-Saturday April 14

Time TBA

In addition to being a work day will have a bonus rehearsal for chorus campers!  It is not mandatory but will be another chance before show week to go through the choreography!

Alumni and Parents of Brand New Alumni:

First time alumni, if you did not go to the first meeting you and your adult representative must be present to be apart of the show this year.  The brief meeting is at 1:00.  Thank you and see you tomorrow.

For all returning alumni and rookies your application fee of $10.00 is due March 24.  Returning alumni you do not have to stay for the meeting but please drop your application and $10.00 fee off so I can place you for Wizard of Oz.

Background Check

Just a reminder that anyone who wishes to help in any capacity with kids in the musical MUST HAVE A COMPLETED BACKGROUND CHECK ON FILE PRIOR TO SHOW WEEK as well as our signed Volunteer Policy form.

If you are even thinking about volunteering please come check with me when you bring your child Saturday.  I have a list of everyone who has been approved.  I will have a few forms if you need to fill one out or you can print them from here.  It takes the district a few days or even a couple of weeks to run the checks so now is the time to turn them in!  If you have done one for any school function in the district it will count.

Click this post title for the forms.

ATTN to all those who volunteered for hair and makeup this year

I would like to have a meeting on April 14, which is our second parent work day, to discuss all the particulars of what we will be doing for the show and sign up for who will be doing what.  To be backstage you will need to have your background check form turned in and be on my volunteer list so make sure you can make the meeting. If you are going to be at the school this Saturday for our first work day and have any questions don’t hesitate to find me and have a chat! Time is to be decided soon! Stay tuned!

TICKET INFO

Parents, this year we will be using an online company for purchasing tickets to the show.  All seats will be reserved so no need to rush to find a great seat!  We are working out all the details with the company so tickets will go on sale around the second week of April.  YOU WILL BE THE FIRST TO KNOW WHEN TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE!  We will give you as cast parents time to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public.

If you are part of our Director's Circle, Ruby Reserved or Emerald Reserved levels, you will still pay me directly and I will get your tickets to you.

Saturday, April 21 REQUIRED Rehearsal

We are so excited to have this rehearsal time in the Durant!! This will be our tech day to work, get mics passed out, get sound eq, lighting, set moving, flying company, etc. VERY IMPORTANT!!!

This is our first full run through in the Durant - so exciting and so important!!! I know everyone is busy and we all have this and that going on - please set aside this time to be at the Durant so we can respect each other’s time. We have countless volunteers who are committing their time to helping your kids have the best experience possible as well as money invested in tech help, so it is very important to be present for this Saturday rehearsal.

Headshots
Our photographer, Adeana, will be at the school on Saturday from 10:00-12:00 taking headshots. You MUST have your child at the school during this time to have their headshot displayed at the performances. Our photographer essentially works pro bono and has that time to give us. Many of you will have to bring your child to the school twice. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Notes for Saturday
I know children are playing sports, dance, piano, etc...
PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO HAVE YOUR CHILD TO THE SCHOOL AT THEIR DESIGNATED TIME/SCENE. Obviously, if your child cannot make their time, I will have to reblock them.

This is a parent work day as well. There are a million things that need to be painted, assembled and constructed. If you can help, we can use you! Please, no small children. We cannot have any children running around the school unsupervised at all.

There will be no food at the school either. Please make sure your child has eaten. Water bottles are welcomed.

Thank you all for your help and participation. It is going to be a wonderful show! #followtheyellowbrickroad
